Code Composer Studio™ (CCStudio or also known as "CCS") is an integrated development environment (IDE) for TI's embedded processor families. CCStudio comprises a suite of tools used to develop and debug embedded applications.

By using CCStudio, instructors and professors can have 'One Install for All' making maintenance of shared lab equipment easy and support of all TI microcontrollers, microprocessors or DSP's possible on student owned copies.

CCStudio is available free to academic instructors and students. See the tables below for license options.

Code Composer Studio is based on the Eclipse open source software framework. The Eclipse software framework was originally developed as an open framework for creating development tools. This enables students to become familiar with an industry standard IDE style and leverage previous knowledge. Code Composer Studio supports running on both Windows and Linux PCs.

Features within the Code Composer Studio IDE:

Compiler	C/C++ compilers tailored for TI’s DSP, Microcontroller and ARM based embedded device architectures. Optimization supplied in TI compilers is world class and includes such features as ULP (Ultra-Low Power) Advisor
Resource Explorer	quick access to common tasks such as creating new projects as well as enabling users to browse through extensive examples provided as part of ControlSUITE™, StellarisWare, MSP430Ware, StarterWare and others.
SYS/BIOS	Advanced, real-time operating system for applications needing real-time scheduling, synchronization, and instrumentation It provides preemptive multitasking, hardware abstraction, and memory management. SYS/BIOS is royalty free and is included with CCStudio.
Grace™	Graphical User Interface for enabling and configuring MSP430 MCU peripherals
C6EZFlo	Graphical Development Tool that generates C6000 DSP applications and provides optimized processing algorithms and peripheral I/O support
System Analyzer	Provides performance and behavior of application code, Enables benchmarking, CPU & task load monitoring, Operating System execution monitoring and multi-core event correlation.
Image Analyzer	Graphically view variables and data, including video frames and images in native format.
Scripting	Allows for the automation of repetitive tasks such as testing and performance benchmarking. The scripts can either be run independently from the command line or from within a scripting console inside CCStudio
Linux/Android Debug	Supports both run mode debug and stop mode debug of Linux/Android applications. Additional plug-ins such as the Google Android Development Tools (ADT) are available and can be added.
Hardware Debugging	TI embedded processors include a selection of advanced hardware debugging capabilities which include: Non-intrusive access to registers and memory, Real-time mode, Multi-core operations, Advanced hardware breakpoints, processor trace and system trace.

Code Composer Studio for Courses

TI is very supportive of academic labs. We will work with educators and lab managers to outfit your lab computers with Code Composer Studio free of charge. Please contact your local TI University Program Manager and submit a request for donation.

CCStudio Version
TMDSCCS-ALLUNVF100	Lab install of CCStudio is accomplished through floating seat installations. The University Program has a special 100 seat version. Instructors and lab managers should make an application for approval to the TI University Program and indicate if you require physical DVD or email code is acceptable. Please contact the TI University Program in your area to apply for a donation of the Code Composer Studio IDE - Node Locked Single User (N01)
TMDSCCS-ALLN01	For academic instructors, lab assistants and courses lasting longer than 180 in which a node locked version needs installation on an individual computer. Please contact the TI University Program in your area to apply for a donation of the Code Composer Studio IDE - Node Locked Single User (N01)
CCStudio "in the box"	Note for Bundle Licenses (Free Limited License): TI and third parties include a free version of CCS with many of our community boards, DSKs and EVM (Evaluation Module) kits. We recommend that instructors contact the TI University Program for full versions to install in labs or for projects in the two options above rather than use the limited versions in teaching labs

Code Composer Studio for Projects

Most student projects and courses require a less than 180 day license. Any student or instructor user can download the latest or previous versions of CCStudio v4 or v5:

CCStudio Version
Download CCStudio from the web	Generate one of the time limited, Full Featured Evaluation Licenses the first time you run CCS. CCSv5 gives 90 days with the option of extending an additional 90 days at the end of this trial period – typically long enough to complete a semester or project. This full version of CCS is time limited but not Code Size or feature limited. Another option for MSP430 users is the Code Size Limited version. When you install and run the first time, choose the 16KB free code size limited license. You can use all of the features of CCS, without expiration. You can create production code but the object code size will be limited to a particular amount.
