两者的性能存在差距包括分辨率/亮度/pattern速度等等，前者通常用在低功耗和低成本的场合，后者主要应用在需要高性能的场合。两者均可用于一些常见的工业应用包括3D 扫描，3D打印等等。
DMD的编程通常都是通过I2C总线发送command来实现的，对语言环境等没有要求。
