Hello, according to your questions, first, there is no specified serial port to debug. We have a FAQ which is about how to debug the USB hub when downstream ports are non-operaional. Hope it is useful for you:

2. You can use the SMbus interface for configuration register access while TUSB8044 is used as SMBus slave by an external SMBus master.
