TRF37A73: unexpected oscillation near 5GHz on empty PCB (no input connected)

Hello,

I am using the TRF37A73IDSGR (RF_OP) as an output buffer amplifier in my PLL design. I followed the datasheet recommendation for passive components and layout. Below are the relevant details:

C_in_RF = 1000 pF

L_RF = 2.2 µH

C_out_RF = 1000 pF

CLK_OUT2OP is the PLL output signal (not yet connected in this case)

3V3_RFVDD is powered by an external LDO dedicated for RF_OP

CLK_OUT is the SMA output where I probe the signal

I’ve attached both my schematic and 3D PCB layout for reference.

Even before placing the PLL chip on the PCB (i.e., with no RF input connected to RFIN), the output already shows a strong oscillation at 5G~5.2GHz, with an amplitude of several hundred millivolts.

Additionally, the output from the LDO powering 3V3_RFVDD becomes unstable during this oscillation.


My Questions

1. I followed the datasheet layout recommendations. Could you help review if there is anything inappropriate in my PCB layout or component placement?

2. I am currently using a 2.2 µH inductor for L_RF. However, the datasheet suggests ~100 nH.
→ Is 2.2 µH too large and possibly contributing to the oscillation?

3. Is there a recommended method to debug or suppress this type of oscillation, such as inserting a damping resistor, reducing inductor value, or adjusting the matching network?

Additional Concern: Package Marking Differences

I’ve used TRF37A73IDSGR in multiple past builds, but I noticed that the marking codes on the chips differ between batches, which confuses me. Here are examples of the markings I have received:

A73I19IA9XV

A73I13IADLG (from most recent batch)

Could you confirm if these are all valid markings for the TRF37A73IDSGR, and whether there is any difference in electrical characteristics or packaging?
