I connected a 4.7k pull-up resistor, and during my bare-metal power-on tests when not reading the I/O pin, it is able to automatically recover. However, after reading the I/O via I2C, it remains pulled low consistently. But when the same I/O of the PCF changes level again, the INT signal goes high and then gets pulled low consistently once more.
