DS125DF111: VCO Frequency Programming

Part Number: DS125DF111

Hi TI support,

1. In DS125DF111 datasheet, Chapter 7.6 Register Maps, Address 0x60 and 0x61 is used for Group 0 VCO Frequency Programming Registers

But in SNLA245–January 2016 Understanding EEPROM Programming for 10-G to 12.5-G, Page 15, there is no corresponding register position, only 0x60 [3:0].

Can you help me to check where can we config the 0x60 [7:4] and 0x61[7:0] ?
2. After we config 0x62,0x63 and 0x64 register to 0x80,0xBE,0xFF, the VOC Group 1 output unable to execute correctly, still the default configuration. Is there anything else that needs to be configured?
Thank you very much!
  • Hi TI support,

Fogot to tell you we are using external EEPROM mode, the attached is our EEPROM bin file, we want to use data rate 6.25G, can you help to check where is incorrect?

  • Hi  Ti Support,

We changed to use SMBus Slave mode this afternoon, and configed success. we noticed that there is a priority configuration for global register 0xff, wirte it to 0x0c, than config the channel register. This is an important discovery. We want to know where to conifg the global register when using external EEPROM mode? which EEPROM address is used for global register 0xff? We must to use external EEPROM mode finally.

    Thanks!

The application notes about the programming guide  give the 10.3125Gbps front-port configuration sequence that is global register is  configured  first:

    That  means SMBus register  0xA9 bit[5:2] is 0x60 [3:0].

You could refer to the DS125DF111 programming user's guide to check if it could help you program. Any other questions, let's discuss together.
