DS100MB203: if DS100MB203 can support QSGMI and 1000BASE-SX ?

Part Number: DS100MB203

dear

from the datasheet i saw the DS100MB203 can support  high speed bus, if  the DS100MB203  can   support QSGMII  and 1000BASE-SX port ?   if i used for   QSGMII or 1000BASE-SX   how   could i set the MODE pin?

the MODE PIN below, how could i set?

0: SATA/SAS, PCIe GEN 1/2 and 10GE

FLOAT: AUTO (PCIe GEN 1/2 or GEN 3)

1: 10-KR

  • Hello,

QSGMII works 5Gbps data rate,  1000BASE-SX is 1000Mbps, while  DS100MB203 could support  10.3125 Gbps, so it could support both  QSGMII  and 1000BASE-SX.

About the configuration, I think according to the data rate support, MODE could pull low ( because PCIE GEN2 is 5Gbps).

1)MODE pin determines if the device is operating in linear mode or limiting mode.

Definition of linear and limiting mode:

Linear mode: output is analog representation of the input and EQ pins control high frequency signal boost.

Limiting mode: output is either low or high and does not follow analog behavior of the incoming signal.

2). 10GbE is limiting mode  while 10G-KR is linear mode

3). In 10GbE mode, TX setting such as pre-emphasis and VOD are effective. In linear mode, EQ level could effect output signal.
