TAD5242: Output series resistors in pseudo differential output mode

I plan to use this chip in an audio player application, using the pseudo differential output mode as shown in the schematic excerpt below:

Am I correct in understanding the that "R" shown is the resistance of the driven headphones (typically 16-32 Ohms), and not an additional external resistor added be me?

And would adding a small series resistors to the outputs help reduce pops on TRS plug insertion? Or should I use a jack with a sense pin and mute in software around insertion/removal events?

Thank you. Take your time. And while we are on the topic, can you confirm that OUT1M is held at 1.65V in pseudo differential mode when AVDD is 3.3V?

Your understanding is correct: the resistor in the diagram is representing the load- you connect ( ie. the speaker ) .

The addition of a small resistor can hep the pop by limiting the current transient . You can also mute it before removal or insertion. I would just add the resistor and if needed I go with mute option.
