AFE2256EVM: Questions Regarding the AFE2256EVM PCB Layout and Design Files

Part Number: AFE2256EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE2256

Dear TI Support Team,

We purchased an AFE2256EVM board. After reviewing the available documentation and PCB files, we have the following questions regarding the three LVDS channels. Could you please help confirm the following points?

  1. It appears that the LVDS routing crosses a split plane. Could you please explain the reason for this design choice? In general, crossing a split plane may affect impedance continuity and signal integrity.

  2. For the LVDS routing, which ground reference should be used: analog ground or digital ground?

  3. The PCB file provided by TI seems to be incomplete, and many traces appear to be unfinished. Could you please provide the final PCB file in AD18 format?

Thank you very much for your support.

  • Hello,

Please request design resources from product page.

Although the LVDS interface is a digital interface, there is not digital ground pin in AFE2256 ,

"There should be DGND-to-AGND connection where LVDS signals cross the device-ground plane to the FPGA-ground." , that is listed in  "4.1.6 LVDS Output" in "AFE2256 Hardware Design Guidelines.pdf"  document,
