我想问一下am26lv31这款的差分芯片适合长线输出吗,用作脉冲和方向信号。
可以，常用与增量编码器，绝对值编码器ABZ信号传输。

简单来说，能够传输的cable长度和cable的损耗，transmitter的输出幅度，信号频率都是有关系的。
am26lv31的输出差分信号最小为0.95V,根据RS422 标准receiver的接收幅值最小为0.2V, 我们在考虑driver和receiver连接的时候，尽量是保证drvier的Voh（min）>receiver的Vih（min）。这样的话保证二者电平都在阈值范围之内能够互相连接。通讯也是一样的道理。但工作在速率比较高的时候，就需要考虑信号损失了，也即是信号幅值要下降多一些。 这个帖子里推荐了了一篇应用手册，可以看下。
