SN74AUC1G04: Inversion of narrow pulse-width signal

Part Number: SN74AUC1G04

I’m currently using two TI parts—SN74AUC1G04DBVR and SN74AXC1T45DBVR—to level-shift and invert a narrow pulse. My signal specs are Amplitude 1.8 V, 10 ns Pulse width and 10kHz Repetition rate. According to the datasheets, both devices support data rates above 380 Mbps or  ~1ns Tpd, so I thought they might handle these 10 ns pulses. Can this approach reliably convert and invert such a narrow pulse? If not, could you recommend alternative ICs or methods better suited for this application? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

    I will address the SN74AUC1G04DBVR because my team does not support SN74AXC1T45DBVR. I will add the appropriate team to assist you with that part of your question.

    Firstly, SN74AUC1G04 is our fastest inverter gate, and it is optimized for 1.8V.

    You can assume that the 10kHz repetition rate will not be the issue for the SN74AUC1G04, but that does not answer your question about pulse width.

    However, we don't characterize the maximum frequency or pulse width of logic gates because it depends heavily on the system and customer requirements. The voltage transition rate, and pulse shape might be important to your customer, so please see This FAQ for help estimating voltage transition times based on the load.

    The only way to know for sure whether this device will work for your application is to bench test the part at the desired pulse width and frequency with a load that is equivalent to your system. This is my recommendation.
