AM2432: The relationship between MLINK and enhancedlink_enable for EtherCTA

Part Number: AM2432

Hello

I have a question to consult about MLINK and enhancedlink_mable.

1、If I select MLINK Based for MDIO Manual Mode Link Status Update in the syscfg configuration interface, is it necessary to enable enhancedlinkd_enable in the ethercat parameter initialization in the tiecsoc. c file, and why?

2、If I select PHY Polling Based for MDIO Manual Mode Link Status Update in the syscfg configuration interface, is it necessary to disable  enhancedlinkd_enable in the ethercat parameter initialization in the tiecsoc. c file, and why?

In PHY Polling Based mode, What is the time from the establishment of phy link to the opening of ESC port, and what is the time from losing phy link to the closing of ESC port.

Thank you.

  • 1. Yes, since MLINK mode uses PHY LED signal for link detection and polarity dependent. This might require tweaks based on PHY init and HW.

    2. Link polarity is active high as now it is based MDIO state m/c which internally poll BMSR via MDIO serial interface.

    3. I do not think we benchmarked this, but MLINK mode reaction is in the order of 10-15us (when fast link detection is enabled on PHY as well) in Polling mode, it depends on how many addresses MDIO is polling and MDIO clock frequency but in can be in the order of 200-250us.
