MCF8316A: IIC communication

Part Number: MCF8316A

Hi TI Team,

We are the IC programmer manufacturer and our customer is requesting us to support MCF8316A1VRGFR algorithm development, it will be appreciate if you could help us to resolve the following issues which we faced.

Our testing result is that the program and read are all normal but sometime after programmed, IIC communication will be NACK and can not be read or program again. Please refer to the result which we have tested.

1. We have changed the I2C Target Address, 0-0xFF is NACK.
2. AVDD measure is 3.3V
3. DVDD measure is 1.5V
4. Vbk measure Buck regulator is 3.3V

  • Hi,

We've got the issue and are looking for the help from our experts on e2e, and because of the holidays, TI E2E design support forum responses may be delayed through Jan. 3. Thank you for your patience.

  • Hi,

Since you're able to program the device normally, both FG and nFAULT pins are pulled up to AVDD through 5.1K resistor, and the voltage regulators all measures correctly, it doesn't seem to be a schematic problem.

Could you please check what you changed the I2C Target Address to? After you programmed a different I2C target address, did you make sure to use that new address to communicate with the device afterwards? We assume you're using a custom MCU to communicate with the MCF8316A?

Could you also try jumper wiring over the MCF8316AEVM's I2C communication pins to your custom PCB and try reading/writing to the MCF8316A using the GUI?

    Thanks.
