DRV8701: If use EN as PWM input to control speed, why the motor doesn't get in brake mode?

Part Number: DRV8701

DRV8701 can use PH/EN to support PWM speed control by EN pin.

But base on table1, while EN is low, motor will get in brake mode.

Is there any other setting need to modify if i want to use EN pin to control speed but not get in brake mode?

  • Hi,

We've escalated your question to our expert on e2e, please expect the response. Thanks.

  • Hi,

Why do you not want to use BRAKE state?  This is very common for a brushed motor to use low-side slow decay when not driving.  Torque is maintained as current decays "slowly" in the windings.  If output is HIZ (coast), then current decays quickly and torque is lost.  It is not really a physical "brake" state.

    Thanks.
