BQ25570: When using the BQ25570, will there be a situation where the chip charges the energy storage component again and the energy storage component also outputs electricity?

Part Number: BQ25570

When using the BQ25570, will there be a situation where the chip charges the energy storage component again and the energy storage component also outputs electricity? If this happens, it might cause problems, right? How can we avoid this phenomenon? If the input energy is sufficient, will it directly supply power to the load?

  • 您好,

  • Hello,

As shown in Section 7.4.3, "The boost charger is disabled when the voltage on VSTOR reaches the user set VBAT_OV threshold to protect the battery connected at VBAT from overcharging. In order for the battery to charge to VBAT_OV, the input power must exceed the power needed for the load on VSTOR." Also, as shown in Section 7.3.3, "Once the voltage at the battery exceeds VBAT_OV threshold, the boost charger is disabled. The charger will start again once the battery voltage drops by VBAT_OV_HYST. When there is excessive input energy, the VBAT pin voltage will ripple between the VBAT_OV and the VBAT_OV_HYST levels."

    Please elaborate on your question.

  • Hello,

    1. It will do both as long as VBAT_OV has not been reached as shown by the previous sections.

    2. Yes, the lower the input power with a fixed load will charge the battery more slowly. Again, "In order for the battery to charge to VBAT_OV, the input power must exceed the power needed for the load on VSTOR." If the load power exceeds the input power, the battery voltage will drop. Yes, the battery will begin to discharge if the solar input is too low.

    3. I do not see a question here?
