TPS25763-Q1: Some related application questions for TPS25763-Q1

Part Number: TPS25763-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1064

.Hi TI support team

I have some appliaction problems for TPS 25763Q1 as follows:

1. AS the above block diagram, the type-c connector can be connected to  U disk or Switcher (DP signal)

  •  When U disk is connected to the type-c connector,  if BC1.2 need be supported to provide power supply for U disk ,  then the DP/DM signal will be connected to TPS25763, DP/DM signal can not be connected to SoC , so how to solve the communction porblem? Recently We are designing the hardware architecture.

2. How does TPS25763 know the connected signal in type-c connector  is USB or DP signal ?

  • CC1 CC2 signal will decide iUSB and flip?
  • If there is no CC1 CC2  signal ,  TPS 25763 will think the connected signal is DP signal?

3. In the block diagram , TPS25763 I 2C  will be connected to USB/DP MUX, it will control MUX output  USB or DP signal .

  • How does TPS 25763 control USB/DP mux equalization? I mean how does TPS25763 know the DP/USB link  training signal quality is good or bad?

Look forwad your answer

Thanks !

  • 1. The DP alt mode needs the Billboard for the compliance and it requires DPDM. Since 763 only support BC1.2 DCP so it should have conflicts to the DPDM requirement of BB. These two functions cannot be achieved at the same time.

    2. Yes CC lines are used for detect the DP mode and do the handshake. If there's no CC signal 763 will not recognize the DP mode.

    3. I may not fully understand your question, but 763 will decide the mode based on CC line messages. MUX can be controlled via GPIO or I2C by 763. In GUI you can choose if you would like to use GPIO or I2C. I don't think 763 will monitor the signal quality of DPDM signals.

  • Hi Vivian

    Thanks for your answer.

For question 3, according to the mux datasheet ,it seems  MUX can adjust the equalization adaptively , right? Or the GPIO also can set the equalization by GPIO pin, right?

TPS 25763 can control mux equalzation register or not?

  • For the functions of 763 GPIOs:

For detailed question about TUSB1064 I will suggest you to start a new thread, since it's not a product that our team is responsible for. USB team should be able to support you on it.
