When you say the the 'fifth string', do you mean VC5's voltage is fluctuating occasionally? When you measure the pin with an oscilloscope/DMM, are you seeing this fluctuation as well?
I see in the schematic that this is for a 10S, but you mentioned only using 6 batteries. Are you shorting the cells at the terminal for 6S then?
