In the vision of the design SRP and VSS would connect to the battery side of the sense resistor on the board with minimal trace distance. Real systems vary in construction so the author has added the optional 0.1 uF capacitors to SRP and SRN to avoid resets from transients which can occur in some systems. These added filter capacitors will slow the edges of the current changes and may result is slightly lower accuracy for the CC with dynamic loads.
You could add more filtering, it will again slow response to current. The CC is an integrating converter so it should generally respond well to the ripple in the waveform and we would recommend the standard filter.
