No the BQ28Z610 does not support SHA-2.

With the transmission rate of our gauges and using the methods available today it would take an extremely long time before you can get a collision to find the key, most likely in the millions of years. I would say the bigger risk is how the key is handled and who is given access to the key.

SHA-1 is a common authentication scheme and has been used for many years.

The SHA-1 calculation engine and commands are similar for all the gauges.
