BQ27426: Does the BIN pin need to be pulled up to VDD using the External Temperature Sensor function?

Part Number: BQ27426

We need to use the external temperature Sensor function of the fuel meter. The device has a built-in battery and does not need the battery insertion and extraction detection function. How should the BIN pin of the chip be handled? Does it need to be connected to a 1.8M pull-up resistor? Or can it be directly connected to the thermistor of the battery?

BIN can detect if a cell is attached to the gauge (indirectly by detecting a thermistor or a pull-down resistor that is connected together with the cell). It can also be used to measure temperature with a thermistor. The gauge will internally bias the thermistor with a weak pull-up when it needs to measure temperature (you can measure this with a scope, there will be a short pulse once a second in normal mode). Therefore the thermistor most likely can't be shared with another chip (the other bias will interfere).
