BQ79758-Q1: BQ79758

Part Number: BQ79758-Q1
Hello TI Expert,

I'm encountering the following issues in my BMS project:

  1. Battery Voltage Sampling: The datasheet mentions that the voltage register values are refreshed every 128µs. Does this mean all channels are refreshed within this 128µs window? Is there a flag register indicating when the voltage registers are updated and ready for reading in continuous operation mode?
  2. Passive Balancing Interference: When using staggered odd/even cell balancing (5-second intervals), enabling odd-numbered cell balancing causes significant voltage drops on those channels, leading to inaccurate voltage readings. How can I ensure accurate voltage sampling during balancing cycles?

Thank you for your assistance!

Best regards,
Leo

  • Hi,

    1. The voltage sampling of BQ79758 adopts sequential scanning mode, and all channels are refreshed sequentially, with a total refresh time of N × 128µs

    2. A possible solution is to adjust the timing of equalization and sampling to ensure that equalization operations are not performed during the sampling period. Alternatively, briefly turn off the equalization circuit before sampling and wait for the voltage to stabilize before sampling.
