IEEE 802.15.4 标准要求的LQI值限制在范围0到255，至少需要8个唯一的值。当设置MDMCTRL0.AUTOCRC，前8个符号的平均相关值连同RSSI和CRC OK/not OK，附加到每个收到的帧中。相关值110表示最高质量帧，而值50一般表示无线电检测到的最低质量帧。
