  • The 98x Script Gen Tool has an option to configure FPD-Link forward channel SSCG. Are you needing to generate a script for a specific configuration? I can generate a script for you if you know the FPD-Link rate (3.375Gbps, 6.75Gbps, etc.).

    The question I want to ask is how to configure the spread spectrum of the master device 98390UH983 through the slave device DS90UB688.
    I also have another question: For the 688's spread spectrum frequency, is it better to set it to 5% or 2%?

  • To send I2C transactions from DES to the SER, the I2C_PASS-THROUGH bit (UB688 MainPage 0x4[3]) will need to be set. The DES will forward transactions that matches the I2C address found in the UPSTREAM_ID register (UB688 MainPage 0x6)

    It will be the same register writes to the 983 for configuring FPD-Link forward channel SSCG. There are no writes needed to the UB688 for the SSCG function.

    For the OLDI TX SSCG, it is best to start with the lowest spread spectrum frequency deviation. The higher the OLDI TX SSCG the more variation on the output video timings which can potentially cause flickering on the screen depending on the tolerance of the TCON.
