Part Number: AM623
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SK-AM62-LP

Hi TI Team,

We have the SK-AM62-LP EVM Board, and try to flash the Image from TI site as below baisic SD Card type.

Processor SDK LINUX AM62xx-LP Yocto - SD card image:

But we can not boot this image successfully, Console Log as below:

U-Boot SPL 2025.01-00766-g7493977a537f (Dec 03 2025 - 15:20:36 +0000)
SYSFW ABI: 4.0 (firmware rev 0x000b '11.2.5--v11.02.05 (Fancy Rat)')
Set clock rates for '/a53@0', CPU: 1250MHz at Speed Grade 'T'
SPL initial stack usage: 13424 bytes
Trying to boot from MMC2

Could you help to check what happen about the board or image, and How to resolve this boot failure issue.

  • Hello, we have received your case and the investigation will take some time. Thank you for your patience.

  • I want to know the EVM version first, what is the 'PROCxxxx' label printed on the EVM PCB?

  • Hi Eirwen, EVM Version is PROC124E2A

  • Hi Eirwen, EVM Version is PROC124E2A

  • Please use the following sdcard WIC image. it's name has "am62xx-lp". The WIC image you linked above is not for the PROC124E2A EVM.

  • Hi Eirwen,

I follow to download the image as you mention in the download link, and flash into the sd  card in SK-AM62-LP EVM Board, detail operation information as below:

  • I tried the same process flashed to two different types of sdcards, but both cards can boot my SK-AM62-LP properly, I am not sure how to replicate the issue on my side.

Can you please try a different type/brand of sdcard to see it still fails?

  • I am able to reproduce the problem with a different sdcard.

I will look into it and get back to you once I have an update.

  • I tested with several sdcards which are the same brand/type as the one fails to boot, but all those cards can boot into U-Boot prompt properly. So basically I have only a single card which shows the problem.

Please try with different cards on your board to see if you still face the issue.

  • Hi Eirwen,

So you mean this issue is caused by the sdcard Compatibility issues, Right? Current we have only one sdcard on the hand, and maybe  will has some hard to find another one. Do you have another suggestion for this issue, like examine sdcard filesystem type mistake and need re-format the sdcard as needed filesystem or others? Thanks1

  • I was trying to look more into this issue today. When used the same bmaptool command to flash the wic image to the faulty sdcard, it failed to boot the EVM, the UART console shows the same error message.

But when I repeated the same bmaptool command to flash the image again, it can boot to U-Boot prompt properly. I then flashed the wic image two more times, both can also boot properly.

Basically I saw the issue only once today with the faulty sdcard, but not anymore after tried flashing a few more times. So the only reason that I can think of is that the image got corrupted on the sdcard during flashing.
